The conference is organized by the Centre for Islamic Economics, KENMS, IIUM, and supported by IRTI IDB and the International Association for Islamic Economics (IAIE) as well as the other cooperation partner of the Economic and Islamic finance practitioners.

The conference, which has lasted for 40 years (the first conference was held in 1976 in Makkah Al Mukaramah, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia under the auspices of King Abdulaziz University, Jeddah) is an agenda that is quite important in the world of Islamic economics. One important milestone point of this event is the establishment of the Islamic Research and Training Institute (IRTI) IDB in 1981. IRTI carries out various research in Islamic economics and finance and the development of mental and financial capacity aimed at supporting the development of the Islamic finance industry.

Alhamdulillah, on this occasion, on behalf of the paper authors Tika Kartika (recently graduated from the Postgraduate program of Islamic Economics, STEI Tazkia) under the guidance of lecturer Dr. Ahmad Firdaus, M.Si and Dr. MukhamadNajib, S.TP, MM, through a blind process check of the reviewer manages to become one selected from 355 papers that go into committee and is entitled to be presented in this event.

On October 10th, 2016, the author went to Kuala Lumpur to attend a conference with the theme: Rethinking Islamic Economics and Finance: Paving the Way Forward for Inclusive and Sustainable Development. A total of 100 economic experts from 35 OIC member states and non-member OIC gathered to present the research results and discuss in panel sessions, parallel sessions and symposium, which lasted for three full days.

Many of the benefits of knowledge and valuable experiences which obtained by the author during the event, one of them is the importance of economic perspectives of Islam brought into the realm of policy of socioeconomic development in the countries, especially in countries that are currently facing high poverty, unemployment, crisis of sustainable growth and ethical and political crisis. That is because in fact, Islamic economy is always in favor of the poor, the Islamic economy with fairness also supports the concept of green economy in harmony with nature, also some paper from western economists proved that the concept of Islamic economics is the answer to the instability of the capitalist economy. On the third day of the Islamic economic and financial education symposium, also concluded the importance of the synergy between university to manage the education in Islamic economics and finance.
